Our current temporary location at 206 N. Elk Street will close for business on Friday, June 14, while we pack and move. The last day for BankStar business at the temporary location will be Thursday, June 13.
Our new location at 124 Elk Street will open for business on Monday, June 17. We will post additional notices online, at the bank, and through social media.
During the closure on June 14, our Brookings and Volga locations will be open for business and able to assist any BankStar customer. We are committed to minimizing any disruption to customers during this transition.

Interior work continued throughout the month with the addition of more historical elements from our 1902 bank structure.

Interior work continued throughout the month of February. Sheetrock went up and painting began, we love seeing the interior really take shape!

OCTOBER 2023
Work on our new building in Elkton has begun with work on the basement beginning this month.
August 2023 - demo day
August 23, 2023 was demolition day for BankStar’s 1902 building. We will miss our home of many years but remain excited about the future. While the skyline has changed, now the fun part begins as we get started on the building of BankStar’s new forever-home.

ELKTON BRANCH TEMPORARY RELOCATION
JUNE 2023 | LETTER TO CUSTOMERS
As you may have noticed, recent weather events have impacted our historic Elkton bank building to such an extent that it is not salvageable. BankStar intends to demolish the current structure and rebuild a new bank at our 124 Elk Street address.
During the demolition and construction process, BankStar will relocate temporarily to 206 North Elk Street.
The 206 Elk Street location will not have a night deposit box, nor will it be drive-through accessible, but when we return to our home at 124 Elk Street, both of these services will resume. We do not predict any other disruptions to banking services during the temporary relocation.
To facilitate this relocation, the Elkton office will be CLOSED on 7 JULY 2023. We will open for regular business hours at 206 North Elk Street on Monday, 10 JULY 2023.
Demolition is tentatively scheduled for August 2023 and the new building is expected to be complete in June of 2024.

ELKTON – Charles Hegerfeld, chief executive officer of BankStar Financial, announces plans to construct new bank building in Elkton.
“We have had some challenges with our historic Elkton bank building over the past year. The storm event in May of 2022 and other more recent structural issues have forced us to look at the cost of saving the building for the long-term versus starting over. From this comparison, we have determined that demolition of the existing structure and building a new banking facility on the same site is the best choice for our customers and our business moving forward,” said Hegerfeld.
Because of this, the bank is evaluating options for a temporary facility so that banking services can continue during the demolition and construction phases.
As the construction process unfolds, some services may be temporarily interrupted, and some may be discontinued altogether. BankStar will be communicating by various means to keep customers updated on matters affecting their banking needs.
